BBC Two – Friday – 7pm Actor
Richard Wilson head to the north Cornish coast to follow routes that were popular in the motoring guides of the 1950s. He takes a VW Camper from St Ives to Lands End and learns of St Ives’s abstract art heyday along the way.
 
Countryfile
BBC One – Sunday – 7.30pm
Matt Baker and Julia Bradbury head for Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland to examine why strong tidal currents make it the perfect location for a tidal energy scheme. On his farm, Adam Henson prepares his rare breed animals to star in a film.
 
A Poet’s Guide to Britain
BBC Four – Sunday – 8pm
Poet and author Owen Sheers travels Stromness, Orkney, the home and backdrop for much of George Mackay Brown’s poetic work. Sheers also uses Brown’s poems as a tour guide, exploring the town’s narrow streets. Discover Orkney in issue 23 of Countryfile Magazine, on sale on 30 June. Springwatch
BBC Two – Monday – 8pm
Simon King, Kate Humble and Chris Packham return for a new series of Springwatch, and they’ll be joined by Gordon Buchanan and Martin Hughes-Games, as well as a new cast of wildlife characters. Kate, Chris and Martin will report from their base in Norfolk, Simon will be on a new mission in the wilds of Wales, and Gordon will be getting close to a large family of badgers in suburban Essex. As increased UK veg production means more fields covered in plastic, Sarah Falkingham visits a grower in West Yorkshire who uses plastic covering to produce a crop every week of the year. But with only a handful of cleaning and recycling sites in the UK, the plastic is dumped in landfill after a few months of use.
