British Bucket List

Postby Abigail Whyte » Thu Jul 29, 2010 5:04 pm

Here's my bucket list (as in places I want to see and things I want to do in Britain before I 'kick the bucket':

Paraglide over the Longmynd
See dolphins off the British coast
Cuddle a sheep (and a seal - but I think I'd scare it)
Spend a night under the stars somewhere in Scotland, or anywhere with no light pollution
Do a coast-to-coast walk/cycle
The Isle of Man
The Scilly Isles
Eat an oyster in Whitstable
Attend, but not take part, in the Cheese Rolling Festival in Gloucestershire

I can think of loads more, but my fingers are too tired to type.

What's your British Bucket List?

Not sure if I have much of a bucket list now, but I have cuddled a sheep - my friend has three! I've visited the Isle of Man a couple of times - I highly recommend it, whichever way you travel. I've had oysters - couldn't care less where I find them, can't stand the things, and can't understand why anyone would want to put one in their mouth! I happen to live in an area where it's easy to find somewhere with very little light pollution.

I would love to visit the Isle of Scilly, but the price to just get there, never mind stay, is prohibitive and, if I can't afford it now, I'm never going to. Trouble is, now, the old body is getting rather worn to try out many very physical activities, and I live in a pretty idyllic place.
Like to see dolphins, from a boat.
Walk the Lake District
Horseriding in the New Forest (I've ridden on Exmoor, and it was fantastic!) and/ or a beach - not on my own horse, he'd go ape!
Love to see puffins nesting on Lundy, or almost anywhere, really.

Yes - I'm inclined to agree with you about the oysters, although I normally do love shellfish and molluscs.

I have walked in the Lake District - around Windermere, and recently climbed Scafel Pyke as part of the 3 Peaks Challenge, but still haven't been to Ullswater or any of the other less touristy areas.

Horseriding - would love to but I'm allergic to the things! I gave it a go in the Gower, but my head nearly exploded from sneezing.

Ooh, I've got another one to add to the list...see the Northern Lights right at the top of Scotland.

Ah, the bucket list… so tempting

I'd like to catch a big pike (10lbs plus)
Sail around the Outer Hebrides
Walk the Ridgeway path from start to finish
Take the Cambrian express along Wales' wildest coast
Buy a narrowboat and wander the waterways for a year
Own a smallholding in the Brecon Beacons
See a golden eagle
