Save us from the heat

Postby Jeffers » Tue Jul 20, 2010 3:47 pm

I know that it's not like this everywhere but here in the SE the big heat is back albeit temporarily. I was down in Port Isaac (what a fabulous place) at the end of June and the weather there was fantastic but when we got back to Kent it was a good 10 degrees warmer. Unbearable in fact.
Now to be honest I like a normal English summer with a nice mixture of weather and nothing too extreme and after a week of intense heat and a scorching weekend things got back to near normal last week and last weekend. But yesterday, kerpow, the temperature was in the upper 20s again and it's the same today.
But it's going to be 17 on Thursday apparently. Blessed relief. If I want scorched grass, dry riverbeds and dust I can go abroad. Over here I like our green and pleasant land as it is and has been for centuries.
How are the rest of you finding this summer? Assuming anyone's out there. As Bearsome 2 wrote elsewhere it is certainly quiet on here right now.

Hi Jeffers! Good to see someone's still about. :) It's been mostly quite bearable here, but we nearly always have a breeze at least, being so near the sea. It has been very heavy today, though, and the sea mist has rolled in, and the downs have disappeared - quite eerie in places.

Ah, a good old sea fret as they call them in Sussex. I'm quite near to the North Kent coast myself and if there is a breeze about we tend to get it but there hasn't been much lately.
A lot better today though. Perfect English summer day. Mid 70s and bright sunshine with a few high, white and whispy clouds.
Will get out for a walk in the park at lunch time.
