Countryfile, John Craven investigates allegations that salmon farm operators are shooting seal of the Scottish coast. You can read the story

I think that it is necessary to shoot seals that are persistently attacking salmon cages. They cause large losses to the industry and need to be kept in check. I'm sure that most of the seals shot are nuisance seals, however i'm sure a small number of seals are shot unnecessarily. As the report on Countryfile said, the reduction in the seal population is due to natural causes and not shooting. I feel that there shouldn't be a ban on shooting seals but maybe it should be better regulated.
