Apple Day celebrates its 21st anniversary this year, so get down to your nearest fruity event for some juicing, tasting and everything that's apple related!

October is the month for celebrating our love for the British apple, from cider making to apple-bopping, there's a whole host of events across the country for you to choose from.

The Rose and Crown, Hawridge, Buckinghamshire, 15 & 16 October

A traditional draft cider and perry festival.

Clumber Park, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, 16 & 17 October

Apple tasting of old and regional varieties grown in Clumber’s walled kitchen garden.

The Red Lion pub and Methodist chapel, Blewbury, Oxfordshire, 16 October

Lots of displays of apple varieties, tasting stalls, juicing displays, honey and bees, and basket making.

Luton Hoo Walled Garden, Luton, Bedfordshire, 16 October

A one-day celebration of autumn's rich harvest with entertainment and fun for the whole family. A plethora of apples and pumpkins, the renowned decorated pumpkin exhibition, local food market, artisan village, morris dancers, live demonstrations, cider tent, lots of children's activities, scarecrows, fancy dress and new for this year a show arena with all kinds of exciting displays. National Botanical Garden of Wales, Llanarthne, 16 & 17 October

There could be more than 500 varieties of apple on display in these beautiful gardens, and there will be a mini-food fair featuring home-made cakes, chutney, cider and toffee apple stalls, as well as stalls selling local pork and a variety of local cheeses. Normal entry prices apply during the festival: adults £8, concessions £6.50 and children (5-16 years) £4, under-fives, free. A family ticket (2 adults and up to 4 children) is £19.50.

Lochore Meadows Country Park, Lochgelly, Fife, 16 October

Walled Garden of Norton Priory Museum and Gardens, Cheshire, 17 October

Celebrate autumn and Apple Day in the walled garden with tours, games, arts & crafts and plant sales.

Acorn Bank Garden, near Penrith, Cumbria, 17 October

Try Cumbrian varieties such as Lemon Square and the Bloody Ploughman. This wonderful country festival has masses of family activities from simple games like apple bowling and apple bobbing to traditional entertainments such as Punch and Judy. For adults there are cookery and craft demonstrations, a local food producers market and so much more. Adults £5, Child £3, Family £14

Quiet Corner Farm, Henstridge, Somerset, 17 October

Woodlands Farm Trust, Welling, Kent, 17 October

A variety of activities, including crafts, a treasure hunt, archery, and pressing apples to make juice. There will be stalls selling local produce, including honey and home-made jams and cakes, and lots of different varieties of apples to try and buy.

Falkland Palace, Falkland, Fife, 17 October

In the biggest Orchard in Fife this year's Apple Day is dedicated to families and conservation. There will be many activities for children, including longest peel competition, apple bird feeder making, crafts with apples, tree dressing and an apple poetry workshop.

Painswick Rococo Garden Harvest Festival, Gloucestershire, 18 – 31 October

Learn about apple and pear pressing, see fruit displays (including heritage Gloucestershire varieties), heritage potato displays and pumpkin displays.

Poppies community wood, North Tuddenham, Norfolk, 21 October

Learn all about the great British apple and its importance to our biodiversity. Learn about apples in folklore, countryside skills, coppicing in the wood, watch bee keeping demonstrations and learn about the relationship between apples and bees. Old Durham Gardens, Durham, 21 October

A free guided walk with David Butler meeting outside Clayport library at 2pm. The 2 and a half mile walk will take you along Durham’s riverbanks to one of the city’s less well known gardens at Old Durham. Apples and other fruit have been grown at Old Durham for 400 years. Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Shrewsbury, 23 October

You will be able to buy numerous kinds of organic, locally produced apples including King of the Pippins, Catshead, Cornish Gillyflower and Ashmead Kernel. Tom Adams, an orchard specialist from the Oswestry area, will be working his apple press and people will have the opportunity to buy freshly squeezed juice. Celebrate apples and hedgehogs with children’s activities, apple milling and pressing, apple menus and the secret world of the hedgehog!

Burton’s community orchard, Shillingstone, Dorset, 23 October

Ploughman’s lunches with a free glass of cider or juice pressed from the orchard’s apples; delicious homemade cakes and teas. There’ll also be ini beast hunting, ferret racing, bees, local craftspeople, apple juicing demonstrations, cake and photography competitions and a raff;e. Adults £1, children free. Yalding Gardens, Maidstone, Kent, 23 October

Family events during the day will include: the longest peel competition, the chance to win an apple tree, paint and print with apples, pressing your own apple juice, name that apple as well as other apple antics.

Peatlands Park, Armagh, 24 October

Experience the beauty of the Orchard County. There will be apple crafts, apple cooking, apple products and a variety of apple trees for sale. Free train rides on the 'Orchard Express' on the day! Admission free. For more information contact 028 3885 1102.

Snowshill Manor, Worcestershire, 23 & 24 October

Both days are packed with seasonal things to do, including tastings of apples and freshly pressed juice, a local produce market and activities for children.

RHS Garden Hyde Hall, Rettendon, Essex, 23 – 24 October

There’s something to keep everyone amused from colourful apple and pumpkin displays to food stalls selling local produce. Visit their new orchard with its range of traditional Essex apple varieties such as Chelmsford Wonder and Braintree Seedling, and if you fancy growing a tree yourself, Apple Revival – who specialize in unique and rare varieties – will be on hand to help you choose the right one.

Hereford race course, Herefordshire, 23 & 24 October

A celebration of Apple Day and the Herefordshire Food Festival, organized by the Marcher Apple Network. Apple identification, tastings, juicing and lots more.

Gainsborough Old Hall, Gainsborough, Lincolnshire, 24 October

An organic and Fairtrade apple day event where you can enjoy W.I home cooked apple produce and browse stalls selling jewellery, gifts and local preserves.

Fruit Focus at The Old Chapel, Calstock, Cornwall, 26 October

This event in the beautiful Tamar Valley is intended to give practitioners, enthusiasts and advisors an insight into issues and new developments around fruit and nut production. Coffee from 9.30 am, starts at 10am finishes by 4pm. There is a small charge of £10 to cover the direct costs of the venue and food.

The Tea Rooms, Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley, Southampton, 27 October

A day of archery, cider & apple pressing, pin the maggot on the apple, apple produce for sale, guided walk around the orchard, face painting and a longest apple peel competition. Admission is free, but there’ll be a small charge for activities. Phone Michele Meek 02380 455157 for more information.

Mill House Cider Museum, Owermoigne, Dorset, 28 October
Apples will be crushed and pressed using the antique equipment - a chance for people to see the traditional way of making cider in the flesh. There will also be demonstrations of how cider can be made at home using simple everyday items. Hot mulled cider and Dorset Apple cake will be on sale too.

Cambridge and Country Folk Museum, 29 October

Peel the apple, carve the flesh and hear about the rich folklore that surrounds this humble fruit. Join in the family workshop to discover the folklore of apples from love tokens to apple dolls, with a chance to carve your own doll.

Porlock Visitor Centre, Porlock, Somerset, 30 October

For the first time the newly moved 150-year-old press in the Millennium Orchard will be used – bring apples and bottles! There’ll be apple identification, games, storytelling, folk singing, cider tasting, a BBQ and visits to the Community Orchard with its wonderful sea views, beehive, bat and bird boxes.

Pannier Market, South Molton, Devon, 31st October
